synophthalmia Definition
Definition
Synophthalmia, also known as synophthalmy, is a congenital condition characterized by the fusion of the eyelids (usually the upper eyelids) from the outer corner of the eye inward and toward the nose. This results in a reduced palpebral fissure (the opening between the upper and lower eyelids), and the visible eye has a triangular shape from the outside.
