syngas Definition

Syngas is a gaseous fuel composed of a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen that is used as a feedstock for methanol, ammonia, and Fischer–Tropsch synthesis of liquid hydrocarbons. It is produced by steam reforming of natural gas or by gasification of other carbon-containing feedstocks.
