striges Definition

In ancient Greek mythology, Striges are creatures or magical beings that are often depicted as breeds or mixtures of birds and women, or sometimes as carrion birds that carry the souls of the dead. They are sometimes considered to be either witches or spectral beings, and are often associated with nocturnal flight and the abduction and stuffing of infants, named oolimyía (Өοιμενίvoie).
