A sidestream is a secondary or subsidiary current of a river or stream, or a secondary flow or current of gas, liquid, or air. It can also refer to a secondary source or a byproduct in a process, such as in the context of smoking cigarettes, where sidestream refers to the smoke that comes out of a lit cigarette.
