A form of discrimination based on social hierarchy, where individuals with more perceived power or status abuse the power dynamics to humiliate, discriminate against, or otherwise mistreat those they perceive as having lower status or less power. It is a pervasive system of oppression based on one’s rank or perceived social standing.
