In physics, a poloid is a specialized type of inductor that consists of a single turn of wire wound in a circular or toroidal (doughnut-shaped) form. This shape has the effect of concentrating the magnetic flux within the loop, leading to a very strong magnetic field being produced, especially when a current is passed through the wire acting as the coil.
