A rare, inherited muscle disorder characterized by progressive weakness and atrophy of the muscles, particularly those in the lower limbs, often accompanied by muscle pain and sensitivity to mild exercise. It is also known as oculopharyngodistal myopathy and is associated with mutations in the tyrosinase-related protein 1 gene.
