meroxene Definition

A mineral of the feldspathoid group, a general name for a group of silicate minerals with a composition intermediate between those of feldspars and nepheline. It is represented by the general formula NaXSiO3 where X can be Al, Fe2+, Mg2+, etc. Meroxene crystallizes in the monoclinic or triclinic system and is found as tetragonal prisms with a typical white or colorless appearance.
