Definition
A person who specializes in or is knowledgeable about hamartia, a term in Aristotle's poetics that refers to a tragic flaw or mistake in the protagonist of a tragedy or any character in literature, which leads to their downfall. In psychoanalytic theory, it can also refer to a malaise or an inclination to act unwisely, and a hamartiologist would be an expert in identifying such psychological traits.
