In biology, a fimbria is a small, fine filament or tuft, especially one of the numerous slender, hairlike structures on the surface of microorganisms, such as bacteria, or on the surface of the female fallopian tube. In anatomy, it can also refer to a tuft or fringe of cells or fibers, often in the context of sensory structures or osmotic balance.
