epiklesis Definition

In Christian theology, particularly in Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox churches, the epiklesis is a liturgical prayer in which the invocation of the Holy Spirit is made over bread and wine during the Eucharist, transforming them into the body and blood of Christ (Real Presence).
