A toxic cardiac glycoside found in the leaves and roots of lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis) and other plants of the genus Convallaria and related genera, which can cause severe poisoning with symptoms including irregular heartbeat, nausea, and in severe cases, death. Convallatoxol is a derivative of digitoxigenin and has similar chemical structure and effects to other cardiac glycosides like digoxin.
