Relating to or involving the replenishment of a substance used up during an important chemical reaction in the body, especially in metabolic pathways such as the citric acid cycle (Krebs cycle). It refers to the process by which intermediates are added to a metabolic pathway to maintain its flow when some of these intermediates are depleted.
