Vaudois Definition

A Vaudois is a native or inhabitant of Vaud, a canton in the western portion of Switzerland, bordering the canton of Fribourg, the canton of Neuchâtel, the canton of Geneva, and France. The term is also used to refer to a member of a specific religious group, the Vaudois or Waldensians, a Christian sect that originated in the south of France and northern Italy in the 12th century and spread across Europe.
