Tripitaka Definition

Tripitaka is the title given to the Buddhist canon, a collection of scriptures central to the Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana traditions. It consists of the Vinaya Pitaka, the Sutra Pitaka, and the Abhidharma Pitaka, which cover matters of monastic discipline, teachings, and philosophical exegeses, respectively.
