TOKHARIAN Definition

The Tokharian languages are a language family consisting of two ancient Indo-European languages, Old and Middle Tokharian, which were spoken in the Tarim Basin in Eastern Turkistan (Xinjiang) in China during antiquity and the early medieval period. The last substantial spoken Tokharian regions ceased to exist by the 11th century.
