Sillaginidae Definition

A family of ray-finned fishes that includes the gray mullets (commonly known as branzino), which are important both commercially and in recreational fishing. Species in this family are characterized by a relatively deep body, an elongate lower jaw often with incisors, and generally subtropical or tropical marine or brackish-water distribution.
