Quarterdecker Definition

In nautical terms, a quarterdecker was a type of warship with a raised quarterdeck, which formed the aft area of the upper deck, allowing protection from, and observation of, the enemy. It was a significant vessel in the 17th and 18th centuries, often carrying an officer's quarters and thus being the largest of the frigates.
