Adjective: relating to the system of church government in which each congregation is a self-governing body ruled by elders who are chosen by the congregation, and in which there is also a wider education of the whole organization by elected representatives from many congregations. Noun: a member of a Protestant Christian denomination characterized by the above system of church government.
