Cubanite is a rare, dark-brown to black mineral that is part of the ilmenite group. It is composed of iron, chromium, and titanium, and is found in pegmatites and metamorphosed metamafic rocks. This mineral commonly occurs in scapolite-langedendite complexes, schist-gneiss complex schist, and is a secondary product of chromium-rich ilmenite.
