Callanetics Definition
Definition
A system of body sculpting exercises and workouts, named after the founder, Denise Austin, who created the method in the 1980s. The exercises are designed to tone and strengthen muscles in the body, with a particular focus on burning fat and toning the abdomen, arms, legs, and bottom. The system is often performed in a series of sequences and is known for originating the term 'chicken wing tuck', which refers to bringing the shoulder blades together, essentially brining the wings of the chicken together in a movement that is supposed to increase upper back strength and posture.
