Askja Definition

Askja is a active volcanic caldera in Iceland, located in the(js) Vatnajökull glacier. It is most famous for a powerful volcanic eruption in 1875 that was eventually covered by the Vatna Glacier, only to erupt again in 1961 in the form of the Holuhraun lava field.
