Anammox Definition

A heterotrophic bacterium that catalyzes the anammox process, a form of denitrification in which dinitrogen (N2) is the ultimate electron acceptor, and ammonia (NH4+) is the only nitrogen source, and which is characterized by the production of nitrogen gas.
